Ce changement de conception a permis d\u2019augmenter la densit\u00e9 de puissance de la solution d\u2019un facteur d\u2019environ deux, ce qui s\u2019est traduit par une r\u00e9duction des co\u00fbts en permettant la mise en \u0153uvre d\u2019un bo\u00eetier plus petit \u00bb. Le BB SP est pertinent dans toute architecture \u00e0 double tension (14V\/48V ou 14V\/24V), ou lorsqu\u2019une certaine charge n\u2019est disponible qu\u2019avec une tension diff\u00e9rente du r\u00e9seau normal, auquel cas la conversion peut \u00eatre effectu\u00e9e par le BB SP localement, juste en face de la charge. Pour que l\u2019utilisation de la BB SP soit int\u00e9ressante, il faut que ses pertes et son poids soient n\u00e9gligeables par rapport au reste du syst\u00e8me.
