Beyond the 50 Hz Transformer
Galvanic isolation has traditionally been closely associated with large 50/60 Hz transformers.
They remain a proven solution, but in mobile applications such as BESS, EV charging, mining equipment or hybrid power systems, their weight and volume can become a major system constraint.
Modern high-frequency power conversion makes it possible to rethink this architecture.
Instead of asking a single low-frequency transformer to manage power conversion, isolation, earthing transition and neutral creation, BrightLoop separates these functions into dedicated building blocks.
The ACHV platform manages AC/DC conversion and power quality, while the HVI DC Galvanic Isolator provides galvanic isolation directly on the DC bus using high-frequency conversion.
This approach can dramatically reduce system weight and volume while preserving the electrical functions required for safe grid connection. The White Paper presents comparisons showing approximately 50× lower weight and 150× lower volume versus conventional low-frequency transformer technology.
