BrightLoop contributes to the world’s first hybrid performance sailing yacht: Magic Carpet e

We’re proud to be part of the groundbreaking Magic Carpet e project—a next-generation, high-performance hybrid sailing yacht commissioned by Sir Lindsay Owen-Jones, former CEO and Chairman of L’Oréal, and developed by Persico Marine alongside a group of highly innovative partners.

The Magic Carpet e is powered by a 101kWh battery and combines electric propulsion with advanced energy management systems, delivering exceptional performance while drastically reducing environmental impact.

In this forward-thinking architecture, BrightLoop’s DCDC LP converter plays a small but important role: converting high-voltage battery power to low voltage for onboard systems and accessories. This setup removes the need for a traditional generator, offering a quieter, more efficient, and more sustainable onboard experience.

We’re especially excited to be contributing alongside partners like Helix, who provided the electric motors derived from elite motorsport programs such as Formula E and E1.

The Magic Carpet e showcases how advanced technologies from diverse sectors—automotive, aerospace, motorsport, and marine—can come together to push the boundaries of what’s possible at sea. We’re truly honored to be involved.
